Soundbound is a game developed in a team of six during the Winter 2025 WonderJam at UQAC (major university in Québec). The event challenged participants to design and deliver a complete game over a weekend, encouraging both creativity and teamwork under tight time constraints. Our project stood out by combining a strong artistic direction with a smooth and responsive gameplay experience, which helped it gain recognition among the competition.
Within the team, my main responsibilities focused on the user interface and visual identity of the game. I worked on ensuring that all UI elements functioned seamlessly, handling display logic, animations, and synchronization between the game systems and the player’s interactions. In addition, I designed and produced the character assets and 2D graphical elements that shaped the game’s look and feel. I tried to create a cohesive visual style that complemented the game atmosphere.
Soundbound was also my first completed game jam project, making it a valuable milestone in my development as a developer. Out of around 30 participating teams, our game achieved a 4th place ranking, with a special mention from both the jury and other participants. The recognition particularly highlighted the game’s level of polish and finish, which was considered above average for a jam title — especially given the limited timeframe.
